Questions and Answers
My state is not able to guarantee participation from all of the required partners; can we still submit a letter of application? The Summit is designed to explore broad, partnership-based approaches to expanding nursing education capacity, and we strongly encourage all partners to be engaged. Therefore, preference will be given to state teams who include representatives from each of the seven required partner categories as outlined in the Application and Team Selection Process (under the Materials Section). We believe each of these partners has a critical role to play in expanding nursing education capacity, and the summit is designed to allow all partners to have an equal voice at the table. If you are not able to secure participation from one or more of the required partner categories, your letter of application should include a discussion of your team's strategy to include these partners in future activities after the summit. How do I find out if a team is forming in my state? You can contact your State Workforce Agency, State Nursing Workforce Center, and/or State Hospital Association to learn more about team formation in your state. For more information, please contact the Employment and Training Administration's Business Relations Group at (202) 693-3949 or businessrelations@dol.gov. My state team has already formed. Are there other ways I can participate in my state's efforts to expand nursing education capacity? We recognize that team size is limited, and that it will not be possible for all stakeholders in the state to participate in the summit. If you or your organization are not members of the Summit team, there will still be many opportunities for participation in your state's broader efforts to expand nursing education capacity. Following this Summit, teams will spend a year researching and strategizing in their home states to develop and promote local solutions to expand nursing education capacity. This presents future opportunities for participation for many interested stakeholder organizations. Will more than one team from a state be accepted? The Summit is designed to support coordinated state-level or multi-state regional teams. Therefore, we do not anticipate inviting multiple teams from a state to attend. If we receive more than one application for a state, we will contact team leads and discuss opportunities for collaboration. What level of leadership should be represented by the team members? We expect that teams will bring representatives who have the authority and ability to carry out the activities that will be discussed during the summit. Are there any pre-conference events taking place? There will be a required pre-conference Webinar for all Summit participants on Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. EDT. Applying teams are encouraged to place a hold on their calendars now so they can attend if selected. What are the important dates I need to know?
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation will provide hotel accommodations free of charge for all Summit participants. Travel costs will also be reimbursed by the foundation if requested. Requests for travel reimbursement should be included in the application. Special Note: Federal government employees should note that the acceptance of payment from a non-government source for travel expenses is governed by regulations, which can be found at the following link: http://www.gsa.gov/Portal/gsa/ep/channelView.do?pageTypeId=8199&channelId=-16527&specialContentType=FTR&file=FTR/Chapter304p003.html#wp1135893 State and local government employees should ensure that they are in compliance with all applicable regulations governing acceptance of payment from a non-government source for travel expenses. | ||||
