Linking to and Leveraging Resources of the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP)

Posted by - On December 08, 2005 (EST)

The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) network centers serve all 50 States and Puerto Rico , and are linked together through the Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). These NIST Manufacturing Extension Centers seek to provide manufacturers with the tools they need to succeed. This webinar introduces the MEP system and the mission and function of NIST Manufacturing Extension Centers, and discusses the benefits that both the MEP and the Workforce Investment System (WIS) will achieve by working together to leverage resources such as manufacturing industry subject matter expertise, knowledge of workforce challenges, understanding of workforce skills and competencies, and best practices in workforce development. The webinar will also explore how MEP Centers and the WIS can leverage partnerships and outreach mechanisms to training providers, untapped labor pools, economic development interests, and companies in the industry.
