Posted by Margaret Lamb - On December 08, 2014 (EST)

The Disability Employment Initiative (DEI) has pursued asset development and financial capability activities to customers with disabilities accessing American Job Centers (AJC) through five rounds of grant awards to 26 states. An important and successful strategy to improve financial health to these and other low to moderate income AJC customers has been the delivery of free tax preparation on-line and on-site services established by the Internal Revenue Service such as FreeFile and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Another resource is the MyFreeTaxes Partnership has helped millions of taxpayers claim valuable tax credits and received refunds of more than $10 billion nationwide since 2009.

This webinar will cover how the DEI has helped to expand MyFreeTaxes across the public workforce system nationwide, including:

  • The impact of free tax preparation on employment outcomes
  • The crucial connections made by AJCs to bring free tax preparation to the veteran community; and
  • The significant increase in awareness and access to free tax preparation by taxpayers with disabilities.
